The Epic Adventure at the All Wales Cub Fun Day
All Aboard for Adventure at the All Wales Cub Fun Day
The 10th of June marked a monumental day for our Cubs here at 1st Bistre. Joined by nearly 2000 other young enthusiasts from all over Wales, our group of 19 cubs headed out on an early morning journey to The Royal Welsh Agricultural Showground, Builth Wells for the All Wales Cub Fun Day.
This biennial event is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most Cub Scouts and it’s easy to see why! The vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter, excitement, and the camaraderie of fellow scouts created an unforgettable backdrop for the day’s escapades.
Thrills, Skills, and New Experiences
The day was jam-packed with activities designed to challenge the Cubs, push their boundaries, and teach them life skills in an entertaining way. From zorbing and laser rifle shooting to crate stacking and axe throwing, the cubs were spoilt for choice. Creative stations like popcorn making on open fires, soap carving, and badge sewing allowed our cubs to express their creativity, while the obstacle course and gladiator challenge tested their physical prowess.
Cubs Stepping Out of Their Comfort Zones
For some of our young cubs, simply attending such a big event away from home was a significant challenge. The long day, from 6.30 am to 9 pm, pushed them out of their comfort zones, giving them an opportunity to learn about adaptability and resilience.
Despite the initial apprehension, all our cubs embraced the day’s events, showcasing their willingness to try new things and meet new people. It’s a testament to their spirit and the core values of scouting.
Moments of Pride and Achievement
There was no shortage of standout moments throughout the day. The enthusiasm and exemplary behaviour of our cubs were a source of immense pride for us. They seized the day with eagerness, trying their hand at every activity, and showing remarkable grace and respect towards their peers from all over Wales.
Even our leaders had a moment in the limelight, with three of them being invested as leaders by the Chief Scout Commissioner of Wales, Rhian Moore.
A Unique and Mind-Blowing Experience
The All Wales Cub Fun Day stands out in the Scouting calendar for its scale, diversity, and the array of experiences it offers to the young Cubs. The event’s rarity—taking place once every two years—adds to its charm, making it a truly unique and unforgettable experience for the cubs.
The joy of participating in such an event, alongside 2000 other Cubs from all corners of Wales, creates memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Looking Forward to the Next Adventure
With the resounding success of the All Wales Cub Fun Day, we’re excitedly looking forward to the next big adventure. Through events like these, we hope to continue offering our Cubs enriching experiences that help them grow, learn, and embrace the spirit of scouting.
