The Upcoming Global Scouting Event: JOTA-JOTI

Pack your bags and prepare your radio signals! We’re thrilled to announce that 1st Bistre Scouts will be participating in the world’s largest digital and radio Scouts event, JOTA-JOTI, from the 20th to the 22nd of October 2023.

What is JOTA-JOTI?

JOTA-JOTI, or Jamboree on the Air and Jamboree on the Internet, is a unique scouting event that combines both digital and analogue communication channels. Scouts will have the opportunity to connect with their peers worldwide through handheld radios and the internet, fostering a sense of global community.

Our JOTA-JOTI Experience

While we usually join the Flintshire District’s JOTA-JOTI event, this year, we’re branching out and hosting our own. As such, it’s a significant milestone for 1st Bistre Scouts and an exciting opportunity for everyone involved.

JOTA-JOTI Activities: Learning Communication Skills

Beyond the thrill of connecting with scouts across the globe, JOTA-JOTI also offers a great learning platform.

Scouts will engage in using analogue radio, understanding the correct call signs, and maintaining security and safety over the airwaves.

They’ll learn how to navigate these channels, improving their communication and technical skills.

JOTA-JOTI Participation: Open to All

From the youngest Squirrels to the oldest Explorers, JOTA-JOTI is open to all members of 1st Bistre Scouts. We encourage everyone to get involved and make the most of this unique opportunity.

Getting Ready for JOTA-JOTI: Sign-up and Equipment

We’ll be creating an online event for sign-ups about a month before JOTA-JOTI. Scouts will need their own computers for the digital segment of the event, but don’t worry about the radio equipment – we’ll have the lovely people from NWARG coming in to provide that.

Parental Support: Helping the Young Ones

Parents, we would love for you to support your little ones, especially the Squirrels and Beavers, during the event. Your assistance with spelling and other tasks could be very helpful., so come along and join in the fun.

Stay tuned for more updates on JOTA-JOTI 2023!

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
